Why do I need a license?
The independent film industry is no different to any other in the sense that investors, distributors and contributors rely on sales to generate an income. In our case, many livelihoods depend on willing viewers paying to watch the film on a physical DVD, a digital download or via a licensed private screening.
Almost all films are subject to the same motion picture copyright laws and in almost all cases they require a license to be screened outside of a private setting.
In addition to remunerating investors, distributors and contributors, 30% of ALL film sale profits will be donated to Animals Asia; a further incentive for us to ensure profitability.
Film licensing can be quite cumbersome and complicated, although certain organisations such as Film Bank Media, the British Film Institute (BFI) and the Motion Picture Licensing Company (MPLC) work effectively to simplify the process.

Naturally, we would love our film to be freely available to everybody. But, as you can appreciate, our obligation to the afore mentioned parties who rely on sales AND the charity means that this is simply not possible. However, our commitment to YOU, the viewers and supporters, means that our licensing will be administered fairly, simply and cost effectively so as not to discourage your own community screenings and events.
How do I calculate the cost of my license?
Calculating the cost of your license is quick and simple. You will need to know three things in advance:
1) How many people will attend each screening?
2) Will you be charging an admission fee?
3) How many separate screenings do you intend to hold?
After working out the above, download the price list below and locate the licensing fee that suits your needs.
Once you know which license you require, click PROCEED TO PAYMENT and complete the online checkout
Should your screening fall outside of the price list, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
